Commonly Prescribed Psychotropic Medications

Printer-friendly version

Collaborative Care provides care management services to all patients being treated for mental health conditions, regardless of treatment modality (medication, psychotherapy or both). However, most primary care patients choose medication as their primary treatment. These patients need care management as much as patients who choose psychotherapy. Patients on medication should be engaged in Behavioral Activation and should receive close follow-up to monitor treatment outcomes and identify any issues with medication therapy that should then be relayed to the PCP or Psychiatric Consultant. Use this summary of commonly prescribed psychotropic medications to familiarize yourself with effective medication treatments used in primary care.
